Aboriginal Medical Service, Drug and Alcohol Unit Redfern
Mr Freeburn is a Bundjalung* man, born at Casino on the North Coast of New South Wales. Mr Freeburn became interested in Indigenous health issues, graduating as an Aboriginal Health Worker in 1993. Having worked in the drug and alcohol field since 1995, before that in the private sector, Mr Freeburn now works for the Aboriginal Medical Service, Redfern.
Mr Freeburn has represented the Aboriginal Medical Service and Indigenous Australians on various local and state committees and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Reference Groups. He is an active member of the NSW Health Drug Council Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Sub Committee, Aboriginal Islander Health Worker Journal, Magistrate Early Referral into Treatment Committee, Local Area Command Aboriginal Consultative Committee with Police and Inner Sydney Homelessness Action Committee. He also participated in NSW Drug Summit in 1999.
Mr Freeburn is currently the Coordinator of the Aboriginal Medical Service, Drug and Alcohol Unit in Redfern.
